ARTIST - T W QUINN (1914 – 2017, BRITISH).

Born to Irish parents in 1918 Tom W Quinn dedicated his long life to Art. Creating many great works in his rambling light-filled studio in the Dordogne, where this wonderful piece originated. This still-life signed oil painting on a panel, depicting a knife, a cut onion, a blue jug and a white jug is still in its original gilt moulded frame. The soft chalky hues reflected the world around him as he saw them, whether painting a busy café, bustling markets, intimate interiors, a game of boules, dappled sunlight in a summer garden, and colour-splashed picnics by the river. His impressionist personal observations were executed with his inimitable style and brush strokes. After the war, Tom attended the renowned Camberwell School of Art studying under doyens of the time. This painting was purchased by the present owner from Tom himself in the early 70s when he would hang his work on the railings at Green Park along with many other artists of the day. A period of time in London life when creative pursuits and the way of life seemed so much simpler, all reflected in this glorious piece.
