VINTAGE SUITCASE

This rare British Made suitcase would be the height of vintage style and class in its day, beautifully constructed and in need of some repair, it is full of history and character. It’s difficult to date as we don’t have a maker’s mark, but judging by the design and period of the attached travel company, holding stamps, and location labels it's certainly the art deco period, so almost 100 years old, and certainly captures the time period in which it was built.

It would be perfect for trips away; Size 60 cm x 38 cm x 19 cm interior lid to the base. Although created for use as a suitcase, it could be repurposed, perhaps as a coffee table, or for retro storage; even placed on a shelf on the wall, ideal maybe for décor in a retro bar, or simply part of a grand collection by a suitcase connoisseur.

When this beautiful item was hand manufactured, it would be the height of class in bygone days. Probably used by the wealthiest of people who could afford to travel, it may have contained gorgeous and extravagant clothing and the finest accessories worldwide. This vintage suitcase features an array of travel labels adorning the exterior. This case was built to last using the finest quality leather.

Suitcases have evolved, yet due to how robust it feels and looks, this suitcase can be repurposed for a proud new lease of life and a new home.

It’s a great example of travel from the early 20th century, with its robust structure, fine leather exterior, staves and metalwork. As an alternative use, the interior could be used to store your favourite memories or to store a cosy winter blanket.

This wonderful remnant of a simpler travel era is made in lighter tannish leather. The two front key locks function perfectly, but we do not have the key. The history of this suitcase inspires the imagination; trying to research the travel stickers. The intriguing initials of a one-time owner, N.F.H are clearly ensconced on the exterior of the suitcase.  Perhaps they are your initials or perhaps a family member’s initials?
